Overview
We're seeking a Full-Time Athletic Trainer to support a USL League One professional soccer team, providing comprehensive sports medicine coverage across training, matches, travel, and daily performance operations. This role covers all aspects of high-level pro soccer medical care, and when not with the team, includes scheduled clinical hours in a partnered clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-field medical coverage for all team trainings, matches, and team events (home and away)
- Deliver injury evaluation, acute care, emergency response, and return-to-play decision support
- Design and implement injury prevention programs, recovery protocols, and rehabilitation plans
- Coordinate care with team physician, physical therapists, strength & conditioning staff, coaching staff, and clinic providers
- Maintain accurate documentation, treatment logs, and medical records in compliance with applicable standards
- Manage modalities, supplies, hydration, taping/bracing, and medical kit readiness for all travel and match days
- Assist in performance support initiatives (e.g., recovery sessions, load monitoring collaboration, wellness tracking)
- Uphold professional, athlete-centered standards in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
Clinic Responsibilities (Non-Field Hours)
- Complete designated clinical hours in an outpatient/partner clinic setting
- Support patient care consistent with athletic training scope (evaluations, rehab supervision, exercise progression, patient education, documentation)
- Communicate clinic-to-club updates as needed to ensure continuity of care
Travel & Schedule
- Significant travel with the team throughout the country (league matches, events, and related obligations)
- Non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, aligned with professional soccer demands
Qualifications
- Current Athletic Trainer certification/credential (BOC or equivalent as required) and eligibility for state licensure
- Current CPR/AED (and other emergency certs as required/desired)
- Experience in soccer or high-level athletics strongly preferred (college, academy, professional, or equivalent)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to thrive in a team-first performance culture
- Ability to lift/carry medical equipment and work extended hours on feet in outdoor conditions
