Role Description AMF is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Audiovisual Technician (Audiovisual Specialist) to support daily operations and live events across multiple spaces within the Center for Space Education. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring strong technical skills, clear communication, and a hospitality-focused, professional demeanor. **Note** This role is Part-Time on an events need basis but has the opportunity to develop into a Full Time role
The technician is responsible for:
- Set up, operate, monitor, and strike audiovisual systems for meetings, classes, conferences, and special events.
- Accurately and efficiently set up and break down audiovisual equipment according to event requirements and equipment sheets.
- Troubleshoot audio, video, projection, lighting, control, and basic streaming/recording systems in real time.
- Understand the technical aspects of AV systems and demonstrate advanced operational ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment and software issues.
- Anticipate equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on AV equipment; report and track technical issues.
- Ensure equipment is operating correctly while in use and comply with all company safety and security procedures.
Customer Service & Client Interaction
- Provide excellent service and strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers.
- Interface professionally with clients, presenters, educators, and guests; provide on-site technical support and clear communication.
- Meet with guests on-site to confirm needs, review setups, and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Monitor events and check in with customers throughout the day to ensure a seamless experience.
Systems Knowledge & Event Support
- Understand signal flow for audio, video, and lighting systems.
- Assist with or perform basic lighting system programming and operation.
- Support multiple event spaces with varying technical and scheduling demands.
- Interact with other staff and outside vendors regarding equipment needs and configurations.
- Use equipment sheets and run-of-show information to prepare for conferences, training, meetings, and special events.
- Maintain organized storage and inventory of AV equipment and related gear.
- Support rehearsals, run-of-show execution, and post-event breakdowns.
- Assist with room setup and breakdown (tables, chairs, staging, basic furnishings) as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience with audiovisual systems (audio, video, projection, microphones, basic lighting).
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills, including under time constraints.
- Excellent interpersonal, client-facing, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed in high-stress or time-sensitive situations.
- Physically able to lift and move AV equipment and assist with room setups.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, and variable hours based on event needs.
- Professional demeanor, discretion, reliability, and strong communication skills.
Preferred
- 2 years of experience in AV setup/operation, preferably in a hospitality, conference center, museum, or educational setting.
- Familiarity with live streaming, recording, and hybrid event technology.
- Understanding of signal flow for audio, video, and lighting systems.
- Additional technical training or certifications in AV or related fields.
- Residence in the Central Florida / Space Coast region (no relocation provided).
