ABOUT US

The Association of Haitian Women in Boston is a grassroots organization committed to empowering low-income Haitian women and their children. We promote equality and advocate for the elimination of barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential. Through social and economic opportunity, we help women build self-sufficiency, confidence, and independence — equipping them with the tools to take control of their lives within a strong, supportive community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team. In this full-time, on-site role, you will provide direct services to individuals experiencing domestic violence — supporting them through safety planning, case management, court navigation, and connections to community resources. Your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of survivors and their families.

— Guide clients through the court system, including securing restraining orders and custody rights

— Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate advocacy and interpretation

— Connect clients with shelters, legal services, housing, health centers, and other human services

— Advise clients on their legal rights, court procedures, and safe living options

— Collaborate with social service providers and engage in community outreach

— Facilitate three 8-week support groups per year for domestic violence survivors

— Lead or co-facilitate workshops on domestic violence prevention

— Attend the monthly Haitian Roundtable on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

— Participate actively in AFAB events and submit monthly program reports

QUALIFICATIONS

— Fluency in Haitian Creole highly preferred

— Familiarity with Haitian and immigrant communities and a culturally competent approach to service

— Experience in case management, social work, or a related field

— Knowledge of the criminal justice system and experience advocating for clients within it

— Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

— Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred
