Baltimore, MD Full Time
POSTED ON 3/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/6/2026

CHAI: Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. is a nonprofit housing and community development organization serving northwest Baltimore. For almost four decades of community service, CHAI has been forging deep connections and helping residents of all ages thrive, making our neighborhoods a stronger, better place in which to live, learn, and grow older.

Are you passionate about strengthening communities, supporting families, and helping students thrive? Do you excel at building relationships, coordinating resources, and bringing people together to solve problems? If so, CHAI is looking for you!

We are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Community School Coordinator (CSC) to serve as a key leader at Cross Country Elementary/Middle School (CCEMS). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who believes in the power of schools as neighborhood hubs and wants to make a meaningful impact in Northwest Baltimore.

About the Role

As the Community School Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with school leadership, families, educators, and community partners to support the whole child and strengthen the surrounding community. You will help expand learning opportunities, connect families with essential resources, build strong partnerships, and foster meaningful family and community engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, relationship‑focused, community‑minded, and ready to take initiative.

What You’ll Do

Partnership & Resource Development

  • Build, grow, and coordinate partnerships that support student success and school priorities
  • Develop agreements with partners and secure additional resources and in‑kind support
  • Convene partners throughout the year for collaboration and planning

Student & Family Support

  • Serve on the Student Support and Attendance teams
  • Help identify student needs and coordinate appropriate supports, including home visits
  • Connect families to mental health, health, housing, and stability resources

Family & Community Engagement

  • Lead the School Family Council and key family engagement events
  • Support parent leadership and volunteer initiatives
  • Build relationships with neighborhood associations and community leaders

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Track budgets, maintain records, and submit reporting and documentation
  • Collect data to measure program outcomes
  • Attend CHAI and district-required trainings and meetings

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth, families, or community stakeholders
  • Experience in areas like mentoring, community organizing, resource development, program coordination, or volunteer management is highly valued

Ideal Candidate Attributes

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A strong relationship builder
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Community‑oriented and mission‑driven
  • A problem solver who cares deeply about students and families
  • Collaborative and eager to learn

Helpful Skills & Knowledge

  • Understanding of Baltimore’s community resources and social services
  • Experience working with children, families, or diverse communities
  • Comfort with data tracking, Microsoft Office, budgeting basics
  • Familiarity with community school principals and anti-oppression practices

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site at the school and CHAI office
  • Occasional evenings and rare weekend events
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to drive locally (mileage reimbursed)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $70,000-$75,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • This position comes with a full set of benefits, including medical and dental insurance plans, retirement, paid time off, and professional development.

Conditions of Employment:

The CSC is a full-time, 12-month, grant-funded position, with funding provided primarily through Baltimore City Public Schools from the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. The CSC follows the school’s schedule, not the lead agency’s schedule, and will need to work some evenings and, occasionally, weekends.
