Job Title: Nurse
Summary/Objective:
To provide assistance to the Arc Rapides employees on how to care for the consumers health needs.
Position Qualifications
Graduate of an approved school of nursing; current nursing license to practice as a Registered nurse at least three years’ experience and preferably one year experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled adults.
Essential Key Responsibilities
1. Evaluate and assess consumer’ physical and medication needs.
2. Evaluate and assess each Direct Support Worker’s (DSW) competency with proper medication administration and to teach each DSW proper medication administration specific to their consumer’s needs.
3. Provide training for all DSW in non-complex tasks.
4. Provide training for ARC staff and employees as needed.
5. Delegate tasks to DSW once competency is established
6. Keep documentation and changes on all consumers and reassess consumer as needed.
7. Delegate medication administration and other non-complex task to DSW once the DSW has successfully completed training and is deemed competent by RN perform tasks assigned.
8. Train staff on 16 hour medication training yearly or provide or delegate 16 hour medication to training to LPN as needed.
9. Instruct staff on how to properly administer diabetic finger sticks.
10. Stay within the scope of Practice of the State Board of Nursing guidelines.
Other Essential Skills:
1. Must be bondable
2. Must be able to evacuate the premises independently in case of emergency and assist program participants and other employees to do the same
3. Valid LA chauffeurs Driver’s License and acceptable driving history for company insurance and dependable vehicle, and willingness to transport program participants in return for mileage reimbursement.
4. Proficiency with PC word processing software.
5. Physical ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
6. Basic knowledge of state development disability services.

1. Must pass criminal history check by Rapides Sheriff’s office
2. Must pass drug screen & alcohol and health clearance
3. Valid LA chauffeurs driver’s license and acceptable driving history for company insurance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $34.00 per hour
