We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Respite Specialist to join our Respite Care Home team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality care and support to individuals with diverse needs, ensuring they receive safe, respectful, and engaging respite services. Duties
- Provide direct support to residents during scheduled respite periods, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor residents’ health and well-being by observing behavioral changes and vital signs; report any concerns promptly.
- Assist with medication administration following HIPAA regulations and care plans developed by healthcare professionals.
- Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met while respecting individual preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with agency policies and state regulations; update care plans as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, HIPAA compliance training, and training in assisted living or hospice care are preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for resident transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory care needs is a plus.
