The Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) is a skilled professional knowledgeable in recruiting and evaluating job candidates. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is an exempt, salaried position.
The TAS role is responsible for proactively sourcing, attracting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding employees, all while factoring in the long-term goals of an organization. They also ensure that current employees are satisfied in their positions and promote the company’s brand through recruitment initiatives and events. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is knowledgeable in effective recruiting techniques and adheres to Human Resources best practices.

What will my day-to-day responsibilities look like?

Serve as an ambassador of The Arc of the Ozarks’ mission and purpose.

Maintain effective working relationships with persons served, supervisors, families, guardians, co-workers, all agency departments, and external professionals.

Collaborate with hiring managers to clarify candidate expectations, meet regularly to assess hiring needs, and align with program objectives.
-
Screen applications, interview qualified candidates, and forward them to management for follow-up; nurture relationships with applicants and new hires.

Onboard new hires by scheduling meetings, collecting required documents, and entering data into the HRIS; conduct post-training follow-up calls to assess support levels and share feedback with management.

Provide periodic reports and maintain open communication with the AD of Recruiting and Retention about recruitment trends, challenges, and retention issues.

Demonstrate exceptional communication, follow-up skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service for candidates, management, and stakeholders.

Build and expand applicant sources by researching and engaging with community services, colleges, employment agencies, Talent Acquisition Specialists, media, and digital platforms.

Attract candidates by attending/hosting career fairs, community events, and school outreach programs to promote Direct Support/Behavior Support as a career path.

Manage job postings in Paycom and internal communications, creating, updating, or removing them as directed by hiring managers and the Assistant Director (AD) of Recruiting and Retention.

Advocate for The Arc through professional community outreach, maintaining personal networks, and involvement in civic/professional organizations to nurture potential applicant relationships.
What do I need to be successful in this position?

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human resources/human services major preferred.

At least one year’s experience in a human resources/Talent Acquisition Specialist capacity is required.

Previous experience in human services preferred.

Passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and increasing their independence as a valued member of the community. A sincere dedication to the mission and the people served by The Arc of the Ozarks is crucial.

Outstanding attention to detail skills and effective communication qualities as demonstrated by success in prior experience in a human resources recruiting/human service position.

Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, Talent Acquisition Specialists, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport with applicants, current employees and members of the community.

Attracts applicants by hosting and/or attending career fairs, colleges, community activities, and other events as deemed appropriate |

Manage, create, and remove job postings in ADP and through internal communications as directed by hiring managers and assistant director of recruiting and retention. |

Continuously explores new recruiting sources, job boards, and forums to assist in growing The Arc’s candidate pool. Contacts passive and active candidates utilizing various digital media and souring channels |

Along with Program Supervisors, proactively creates and maintains a candidate pipeline by establishing relationships with area schools as young as grade school to present Direct Support as a career path early in a student’s education. |

Forms close relationships with hiring managers to ensure clear expectations for candidates and interviewers. Regularly meets with members of management to determine their hiring needs and determine program objectives. |

Collaborates with the Development Team and the Clinical Talent Recruiter with marketing and advertising for the Recruitment Team, ensuring materials are consistent with Arc style guide. |

Continuously explores ways to improve the department’s processes. |

Applicant Relations |
Screens applications and interviews qualified candidates, forwarding onto appropriate member of management for follow-up interview. |

Creates and nurtures relationships with applicants and new hires. |
|

Onboarding and New Hire Relations |
Onboards new hires following current protocols. This includes scheduling onboarding meetings, ensuring all required documents are collected from new hires, and entering new hire data into the HRIS.
|
|
Conducts calls with new hires after their training is complete to assess if new hires feel supported. Uses any information gained to help management better support their new hires. |
|
|
Continually collaborates with the training department regarding new hire training certifications and other training-related new hire situations. Conducts new employee orientation in collaboration with the training department. |
|
|
Keeps the AD Recruiting and Retention informed through periodic reports concerning various phases of responsibility. |
|
|
Keeps constant communication with AD recruiting and retention of any potential issues that arise regarding recruitment or retention, including community trends and recruitment patterns. |
|
|
Displays exceptional communication and follow-up skills, shows commitment to providing excellent customer service to candidates, management, and all relevant stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
|
Professional knowledge of the operations of a human resources department related to policy and procedures, employment requirements, benefits, and other pertinent functions.
Knowledge of programs offered and operations of The Arc of the Ozarks and/or similar organizations
Knowledge of human resources administration, including employment classification, placement, training, performance reporting and other employee related matters.
Proficiency with social media, resume databases and professional networks. Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and thorough follow-up. Ability to maintain confidentiality in business dealings and records management.
Knowledge of labor laws, equal employment opportunity, hiring and employment best practices.
Knowledge of utilizing MS office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other systems.
Knowledge and skill in utilizing applicant tracking systems.
Ability to develop and maintain complex records and to prepare reports from varied statistical sources as directed by the AD recruiting and retention.
Ability to establish and maintain a harmonious working relationship with the public, agency management and other personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to exercise judgment, discretion and to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
