What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Coordinator position at The Arc Of Southern Maryland?
JOB PURPOSE:
This position requires a commitment to individual choice and community integration and inclusion. Travel by car is necessary and a great deal of time will be spent in individual houses/sites. This position requires the ability to work where needed within the Tri-County area. In addition, responding to emergencies during and after hours, on weekends, and holidays is required when applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUPERVISING DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)
- Schedule planning and review
- Maintaining adequate staffing ratios
- Approve leave/timecard review and submit to Program Manager for review
- Fill in for staff when needed to cover the shifts
- Assist the Program Manager with interviewing and hiring of potential direct support staff
- Provides individualized orientation to new staff members, mentors and provides appropriate/constructive feedback, when applicable
- Assures adherence to policies and procedures through training feedback
- Delegating and assigning duties to DSPs
- Ensuring review/ signatures of all plans (nursing, behavior, etc.)
- Monitoring electronic health record for case notes and documentation (client dashboard)
- All assigned tasks are completed daily and logged accurately
- Complete house inspections/fire drills and monthly attendance
- Coordinate/facilitate house meetings
FINANCES/MANAGEMENT
- Ensures that homes operate appropriately and within budgetary guidelines as well as maintains the highest possible quality of living standards
- Ensures that in house consumer monthly finances (cash on hand) is managed appropriately
- Monitoring to not exceed given amount for benefits (spending as needed when determined by manager)
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate budgetary responsibility for Impress account (food) and SNAP (individual food account) Documentation
- Complete the PCP in the electronic health record for review
- Training staff on all Plans
- Review all incident reports for accuracy and corrections before submitting for review
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
- Responsible for all medical appointments/paperwork
- Primarily responsible for tracking, carrying out and documenting all medical appointments for the individuals, delegating to DSP as needed
- Schedule and plan activities for consumers to participate in weekly/monthly
- During emergencies, Manager for coverage while assisting at the hospital
- Monitors routine and emergency medical/dental services and medication reviews as appropriate
- Ensures that DSPs monitors (to ensure proper nutritional value) and/or consumer hygiene practices

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQU DIREMENTS (Minimum)
- Possesses a High School Diploma or equivalency is required. However, an Associate Degree in human services or related field is preferred.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this requirement
- Must be personable, energetic and have strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Must have knowledge of community resources available
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work anywhere within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties) as needed.
- Customer service-oriented
- Computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Office applications)
- Has a good command of the English language both oral and written and demonstrates these skills.
- Possesses a valid driving license with a good driving record, and access to a safe vehicle (must pass agency sponsored inspection) for transporting people receiving services.
- Possesses the ability to pass the criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally not exposed to weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
