Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with families, professionals, volunteers, and team members
- Ability to document services according to Medicaid guidelines
- Valid Iowa driver’s license and insured vehicle preferred
Position Overview
This part-time, non-exempt position is responsible for implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and providing high-quality support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure client safety and well-being through direct supervision and care
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Assist with health procedures such as toileting, tube feedings, monitoring seizure activity, first aid, and medication administration
- Stay calm and responsive in emergency situations
- Promote positive experiences by engaging clients in meaningful activities and encouraging skill development
- Advocate for clients by reporting any concerns, incidents, or suspected abuse/neglect
- Communicate updates on client needs or changes
- Complete required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide only ISP-approved services
- Teach and support skills in socialization, communication, self-care, recreation, advocacy, daily living, and more
No direct experience required, training is provided!
