Job Summary
A Residential Support Specialist (RSS) helps ensure that residential programs follow New York State OPWDD rules and procedures. They make sure Resident Life Plans and staff action plans are accurate, review service billing, coordinate nursing documentation, and support CAS assessments. The role works closely with interdisciplinary teams, nurses, and quality assurance staff to maintain high service standards.
The RSS also helps train staff in areas like SCIP, First Aid/CPR, Precision Care, and other needed trainings. They take part in team meetings to improve person-centered planning, community involvement, and behavior support.
Residential Support Specialists help analyze issues, solve problems, and support improvement efforts to ensure individuals receive high-quality services, while ensuring compliance to all OPWDD regulations.
Responsibilities
- Helps improve the person-centered planning process
- Supports strategies that increase community involvement
- Maintain OPWDD compliance
- Problem solving and addressing individual support needs
- Provide direction to support teams on a regular basis
- Support employee training in SCIP, First Aid, Precision Care, etc.
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree & 1 years of experience in human services
OR
- Associate's Degree & 3 years of experience in the field
OR
- High School Diploma & 5 years of experience in the field

- Valid NYS Driver's License required.
- This position also requires the capacity to support people’s physical management needs, and the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
