Position Summary
We are seeking a Assistant Program Director - ABI to support the Program Director in overseeing the clinical and administrative operations of our residential living house for individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI). These positions are crucial in ensuring that individuals in the house receive the highest level of care and support. You will assist in directing program staff, coordinating treatment and support plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Assistant Program Director will also participate in on-call duties, staff training, and be directly involved in the intake process for new residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Management: Assist the Program Director in managing and directing the activities of program staff, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management. Optimize individual support and operational goals.
- Clinical Support: Aid the Program Director in directing treatment and support plans, ensuring interventions are in place for rehabilitation strategies and techniques.
- Staff Development: Provide guidance, coaching, and training to staff, managing performance through both formal and informal methods.
- Staff Scheduling: Assist with scheduling nursing and direct care staff to ensure 24/7 coverage and appropriate support.
- Intake Process: Complete assessments of prospective individuals to determine program appropriateness. Oversee intake procedures and ensure a thorough onboarding process.
- Family & Community Support: Facilitate outreach and foster positive relationships between individuals served and their family, friends, and community connections.
- Problem Resolution: Work to resolve issues for both staff and residents, creating a positive and supportive environment.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure timely completion of clinical, service, and support documentation. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, licensing, and program policies.
- Incident Management: Manage and report on critical incidents (e.g., medication occurrences, physical restraints). Document and follow through with corrective action plans as needed.
- On-Call Support: Provide on-call backup and on-site support when necessary.
- Medication Management: Work in partnership with MAP supervisor or consultant to ensure medication handling complies with all regulations and standards.

- Contribute to the overall positive morale of the program.
- Demonstrate conduct in keeping with The Arc of Greater Plymouth’s Ethical Code of Conduct.
- Commit to professionalism and teamwork at all times.
- Attend all mandatory in-services, safety training, and annual trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma required; college degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in human services or allied health, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage diverse staff in a 24-hour residential setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to develop positive therapeutic and professional relationships with various stakeholders.
- Ability to assess and address problems effectively.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of program management and acquired brain injuries.
Certifications
- MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification required (in-house training provided).
Working Conditions
- Residential home setting with occasional community outings.
- May require working in a variety of physical and environmental conditions.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing and supporting residential staff.
