Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, hybrid role based in Fitchburg, MA, with flexibility for some work-from-home. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning aligned with the organization’s mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements, managing financial reporting to leadership and the board, ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding requirements, and supervising finance staff. The CFO will collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, support program leaders in managing budgets, monitor financial risk, and develop policies and controls to safeguard assets. This role also involves partnering with auditors, funders, and other external stakeholders to maintain transparency and financial integrity.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Finance, with experience leading financial operations in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in Financial Planning and budgeting, including forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term strategic financial planning.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements, with the ability to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Experience in Financial Reporting to executive leadership, boards, and external stakeholders, including grant and contract reporting.
- Advanced Analytical Skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, fund accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills, including mentoring and developing finance teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with capacity to work effectively across programs and departments.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to the mission of supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.
