Job Title: Direct Support Associate
Location: Fletcher, NC
Position Type: up to 35 hours per week
About the Position:
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional to support a young individual in the Fletcher area. This individual requires a structured and predictable routine and benefits from working with someone who is patient, observant, and skilled in maintaining personal boundaries while fostering trust. She communicates through vocalizations, eye gaze, and picture card choices and thrives in an environment that balances engagement with consistency. Her interests include music, playing instruments, craft activities, outdoor observation, people-watching, and listening to others read. This role requires a high level of attentiveness to safety, particularly regarding fall prevention and the proper use of adaptive equipment, including lifts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting with mobility and ensuring a secure and supportive environment.
She is surrounded by a strong, collaborative care team, including her dedicated parents, who provide thorough training and guidance to ensure a smooth transition for new team members. Hours and days are flexible, allowing for a work schedule that accommodates both the caregiver and the individual’s needs.

Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support during community outings, recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities.
- Assist with communication and social interaction in real-world environments.
- Support the teen in developing independence with daily living and community navigation skills.
- Implement behavioral support strategies to encourage positive behavior and self-regulation.
- Foster inclusion and create opportunities for meaningful community participation.
- Maintain safety and well-being at all times.
- Collaborate with family and therapy team to support goals and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with teens or individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and a calm, patient demeanor.
- Ability to provide positive behavior support and model appropriate social interactions.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to transport the individual if needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check required.
Schedule & Compensation:
