The Arc of Haywood County is seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. DSPs play a vital role in helping individuals live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
This position follows a unique residential schedule that allows for extended time off between shifts while providing continuity of care for the individuals we support.

Off Duty at 10:00 AM
56 hours per rotation (includes approximately 16 overtime hours)

Sleep shifts require staff to remain on-site and available to respond to resident needs and emergencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.
- Provide transportation to appointments, recreational activities, and community outings.
- Administer or assist with medications in accordance with agency policies and training.
- Maintain accurate documentation and daily service notes.
- Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of residents.
- Support individuals in achieving personal goals outlined in their service plans.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral situations.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and agency staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass background checks and required screenings.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in human services, healthcare, caregiving, or direct support preferred but not required.
