What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Director position at The Arc of Greater Boone County?
The Development Director is integral in moving The Arc of Greater Boone County’s mission forward by collaborating with our Executive Director and the leadership team to create and implement The Arc of Greater Boone County’s Fundraising Strategy. The Development Director will develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, major gifts and special events. The Director of Development is also responsible for leading the organization’s fundraising and development efforts, focusing on securing financial resources, building relationships with donors, and implementing strategic plans to achieve the organization’s mission. The Development Director will collaborate closely with our Executive Director to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.
The Director of Development will:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals. This includes setting annual and long-term fundraising goals, creating a fundraising strategy, and identifying potential funding sources.
- Direct the expansion and diversification of fundraising channels to enhance donor participation and revenue generation.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and volunteers to maximize fundraising efforts and agency impact.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
- Build and maintain strong donor relations with current and potential donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Ensure donor database documentation is current and includes all donation records and contacts with current, lapsed, and prospective donors.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and volunteers to create and implement the fundraising events.
- Create and implement a year-round stewardship plan. Keep donors informed about the impact of their contributions and building long-term relationships.
- Manage all fundraising budgets and track financial performance.
- Collaborate closely with the team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials. This involves developing a compelling message that resonates with potential donors, creating donor recognition programs, and crafting targeted appeals that drive donations.
- Participate and contribute at Management and other meetings.
- Conduct fundraising committee meetings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Include:
CFRE/CFRM credential preferred
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business, or related field (with a focus on philanthropy preferred). A combination of education and experience may be accepted
Minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
Proficiency with office technology including software applications related to the job including DonorPerfect or similar CRM
Valid driver’s license.
