The Direct Support Professional is responsible for supporting program participants in the community and/or the participant’s home following the goals listed in their Individual Support Plan. Work requires flexibility as work assignments and hours/time vary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) If providing an enhanced waiver service, must meet those specific qualifications.

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for supporting program participants in the community and/or the participant’s home following the goals listed in their Individual Support Plan. Work requires flexibility as work assignments and hours/time vary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
- Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
- Implement the Individual Support Plan (ISP) for participants, including, but not limited to supporting the participant with their behavioral, health, communication, activities of daily living, supervision, and safety needs as well as supporting them to meet their outcomes through direct instruction/support within the frequency, duration, and amount of service specified.
- Provide transportation to help participants access community resources including shopping, medical appointments, visiting their family/friends, participation in community outings, and exercise activities.
- Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to, service notes, medical/dental forms for the individual, incident reports, time and attendance records, and mileage expenses. Assist program director with the development of progress reports as requested.
- Assist in the assessment of needs and development of outcomes and outcome action plans for program participants.
- Check Arc email and office mailbox regularly and respond when appropriate.
- Notify supervisor immediately of changes to the participant’s schedule, incidents, and other urgent matters. Accepts reassignment when needed.
- Conduct fire drills and check smoke detectors in accordance with the agency Emergency Plan and program procedures. Document all tests/checks as required.
- Communicate regularly and work cooperatively with program participants, families, team members, service providers, and supervisors.
- Participate in team meetings and committee meetings as required.
- Comply with all agency policies, plans, and procedures, program requirements, funder regulations, and laws.
- Participate in Arc sponsored events.
- Other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
- Current and valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as per The Arc's Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.
