Position Summary
The Manager of Benefits and Representative Payee Services oversees representative payee services for individuals supported by the agency who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and other eligible benefits. This position is responsible for ensuring that client funds are managed accurately, ethically, and in full compliance with Social Security Administration requirements and agency policy. The Rep Payee Manager helps safeguard each person’s financial well-being by prioritizing essential needs, maintaining complete records, coordinating with internal and external partners, and supporting sound financial practices that promote dignity, stability, and person-centered care.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operations of the Representative Payee Program and supervise assigned staff.
- Manage client benefit accounts, including Stable accounts, ensuring compliance with SSA requirements and agency policies.
- Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, documentation, and required reports.
- Monitor budgets, spending, and benefit activity to support client financial stability.
- Review and authorize disbursements while ensuring funds are used for individuals’ needs.
- Develop procedures, internal controls, and support program audits and quality improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with staff, families, guardians, vendors, and government agencies regarding financial matters.
- Assist with benefit applications, changes, closures, and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in representative payee services, bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, human services finance, or related experience preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of SSA representative payee regulations, fiduciary responsibilities, financial recordkeeping, and compliance standards.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive financial information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and ability to learn financial systems.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to person-centered services and the mission of The Arc of Bristol County.
