The Arc of Ocean County is seeking Part-Time Community Activities Assistants to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy an active, social, and engaging recreational experience.
You'll be part of the team that helps make activities happen—from preparing for events and accompanying individuals on community outings to encouraging someone to join a group, try a new hobby, or become more involved in their community.
If you're energetic, dependable, and enjoy being around people, this is a flexible part-time opportunity where no two activities have to feel the same.
Your Schedule & Pay
Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Flexible evening and weekend hours based on program needs
Weekend Availability: Weekend daytime availability required
Pay: $20.70-$24.70 per hour
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Depending on the recreation calendar, you could spend your time helping with a community outing, preparing for a seasonal event, participating in a fitness activity, supporting a cooking group, or helping individuals enjoy an evening dance.

Get People Involved
- Support individuals as they participate in recreational programs, social activities, and experiences throughout Ocean County
- Help facilitate fitness classes, arts and crafts, cooking groups, dances, seasonal celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and other activities
- Encourage individuals to try different experiences and discover activities that match their interests and preferences
- Recognize individual accomplishments and help make participation enjoyable and meaningful
- Accompany individuals during community outings, events, and recreational opportunities
- Encourage greater confidence and independence while participating in community life
- Safely transport participants using agency vehicles when assigned
- Help individuals work toward personal and recreational goals through active participation and encouragement
- Encourage conversation, friendship, and positive interaction among participants
- Model respectful and encouraging social behavior
- Provide patient, person-centered support while respecting individual preferences and choices
- Help create an atmosphere where participants feel welcomed and included
- Provide appropriate supervision and support during programs, events, and community outings
- Prepare activity areas and assist with event setup and recreation program needs
- Help maintain safe, organized, and welcoming activity environments
- Communicate participant accomplishments, needs, and concerns with supervisors and recreation team members
- Collaborate with other Recreation Assistants and share ideas for new or expanded recreational opportunities

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for dependable, outgoing individuals who enjoy working with others and can bring positive energy to recreational and community-based activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred
- Demonstrated employment stability, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer preferred
