SUMMARY
The Manager of Supervised Apartments provides leadership to staff and ensures the health, safety, and well-being of residents living in supervised apartment settings. The Manager supports residents in maximizing their independence, achieving their individualized quality-of-life goals, and participating actively in their communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the supervised apartments, ensuring safe and well-maintained living environments, vehicles, and personal property.
- Direct and monitor the overall supports provided to residents, including appropriate medical, behavioral, and personal care supports.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility by assisting residents with banking, bill-paying, and financial agreements; develop, manage, and monitor household budgets; and conduct regular audits of resident and household finances.
- Provide direct support to residents and model such supports for staff by assisting with daily living skills, promoting independence, facilitating community integration, maintaining finances, and supporting behavioral plans.
- Support residents in achieving their Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) goals by monitoring progress and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including DDD licensing requirements, DHS regulations, and CARF standards.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate direct support staff; ensure staff orientation, ongoing training, and professional development.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by modeling effective communication, conflict resolution, and staff support.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels in compliance with agency and state contractual requirements.
- Advocate for the rights and choices of residents, ensuring residents are meaningfully involved in decision-making about their supports and their home.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, guardians, case managers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery.
- Cooperate with agency, DHS, and DDD staff during inspections and investigations.
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and external regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the agency.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise apartment program staff and per-diem employees assigned to the supervised apartments. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and one (1) year of related experience; OR
- Associate’s degree plus three (3) years of related experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity; OR
- High School Diploma with five (5) years of related experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional requirements
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, including behavioral support experience.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills and operating knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet.
