What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Day Services position at The Arc - Jefferson & St. Lawrence?
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm; flexible to the needs of the program. This position covers St. Lawrence County, based in Canton, NY and Jefferson County based in Watertown, NY. Traveling between both counties is regularly expected.
Qualifications – Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and five (5) years supervisory experience. Or M.S. in Human Services or related field and three (3) years supervisory experience. QIDP status.
Relevant Certifications – N/A
Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.
Summary/Objective - Responsible for the direct supervision and evaluation of Habilitative Program Coordinator positions. Responsible for assisting the Director of Day Habilitation with the daily operations of all habilitative services, ensuring regulatory compliance, good program practices, continuous quality improvement and the development of plans to assist in meeting objectives. Assist in the process of new development for habilitative services. This could include changes in program model, off site day habilitation sites, etc. Assist in the development of plans of corrective action for reviews completed by the JRC Quality Service Department, OPWDD, OMIG. Assist with incorporating the person centered planning process. Will support the Agency’s values by working with measurable signs of PRIDE.

1. Provide oversite of day habilitation services to ensure they meet the physical, social and developmental needs of the people we support as well as have adequate protective oversight in place to ensure their safety and well-being.
2. Assist in ensuring that all assigned facilities meet regulatory and other certification requirements and participate in site visits and agency reviews. Ensure that recommendations made by these governing bodies are reviewed and followed through on if deemed appropriate. This will result in the development and monitoring of plans of corrective action.
3. Assist in completion and review of quality services reports and assess if issues identified require further review and follow up with QS, Residence Managers, Residential Coordinators, Habilitative Program Coordinators and the Director of Residential Services.
4. Serve on programmatic and strategic committees per the discretion of the Director of Day Habilitation, as well as any others as directed.
5. Visit all sites routinely and complete any assigned quality checklists and training needed with staff.
6. Ensure staff is competent in the performance of their duties, provide staff with direction and assistance as indicated and provide them with updated information regarding the agency and the department, as well as interact to discuss concerns and determine if there are issues that need to be addressed.
7. Work with Human Resources to approve all corrective actions to ensure fair and equitable application of HR policy and procedure by supervisors.
8. Monitor unit utilization and maximize enrollment for all programs under supervision.
9. Monitor all required documentation for compliance with regulations and ensure that all documentation is completed within acceptable time frames. Make recommendations as needed. This includes paper form documentation and Therap paperless computer system.
10. Assist with ensuring all assigned sites and program areas meet regulatory and other certification requirements. Ensure all recommendations, including those on plans of corrective action, are reviewed and followed through with.
11. Attend staff meetings a minimum of one time per quarter. This participation will enhance good information sharing and increased communications.
12. Develop and assist in providing all staff with training and ongoing support necessary for the successful completion of assigned job responsibilities.
13. Responsible for timely completion of performance evaluations for staff assigned to direct supervision. Monitor timely completion of all other performance evaluations for staff falling under indirect supervision.
