Job Title: Staff Trainer
The Arc Erie County NY is seeking a talented, dedicated and results-driven Staff Trainer. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing various training programs throughout our agency (900 employees) as well as our two-week New Hire Orientation every 3 weeks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinating and overseeing our two-week New Hire Orientation every 3 weeks for 20-30 new hires across our agency.
- Present various sessions during our New Hire Orientation.
- Teaching SCIP-R courses according to program needs & facilitating the agency’s SCIP program.
- Leading our Relias Learning Management System (electronic training) for all employees on a quarterly basis.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree plus 1-year full-time experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities.
- Associate degree plus 2 years’ full-time experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, active listening, organization, adaptability, motivation and leadership skills.
Additional Requirements
- Availability to work full time, Monday – Friday (40 hrs. per wk)

Position Summary:
Provides training modules to staff. Assists the Training Manager as needed.
Reporting Relationship:
Works under supervision of the Training Manager in collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer, and Director of Human Resources.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assumes primary responsibility for the provision of training.
- Assists in the development of staff training modules.
- Coordinates, assists, and presents sessions regarding the New Employee Orientation
- Teaches SCIP-R courses according to program needs and facilitates the Agency SCIP program.
- Teaches agency First Aide/CPR courses according to program needs.
- Communicates through written/electronic/verbal means, documents such as summaries, reports, follow-up evaluations and other training related materials.
- Communicates and enroll staff in trainings as needed.
- Primary administrator for the Relias LMS. Shall ensure that staff and managers are enrolled in appropriate courses/modules, trained on the use of the LMS and assists in developing/distributing ad hoc and re-occurring reports.
- Train staff in various location throughout the agency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree PLUS one year full-time direct service experience with developmentally disabled individuals.
OR
Associate’s Degree PLUS two years administrative experience.
PLUS
Certification in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised and First Aid/CPR and/or willingness to be certified within reasonable amount of time after hire. Preference will be given to an individual with Instructor Certification in one or both areas.
Preference will be given to a candidate with an education and/or training background.
Valid NYS driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.

Exhibit the ability to handle information discretely understanding strict rules of confidentiality; the characteristics of understanding, patience, tact, resourcefulness and initiative.
- Equipment Operation:
The ability to operate office equipment, such as, computer, copier, fax machine, etc.; operate program equipment, such as, lifts, standards, exercise equipment, sensory equipment, etc.; operate agency buses and vans to include use of wheelchair tie down systems; etc.; Use household cleaners, chemicals, and ability to come in contact with normal household dust/dirt.
