Electrical CAD Drafter/Designer/Technologists/Supervisors
The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is an integral part of one of the leading research universities in the nation and serves as a University center of excellence in defense science, systems, and technologies with a focus in naval missions and related areas.We have multiple openings at varying levels for experienced electrical CAD professionals to join us at our State College, PA, location. The Mechanical and Electrical Design Department at ARL works in collaboration with ARL Research Offices to provide high-quality drafting and 3-D modeling in support of ARL’s mission. The working environment for this role is fully on-site, located in State College, PA, but options may exist for project-dependent ability of hybrid work.We offer a generous relocation package!

You will be responsible to:
- Provide ECAD design support, collaborating with R&D Engineers and Engineering Support Specialists
- Assist with or lead the creation of schematics, PWBs, CCAs, BOMs, and documentation using industry standards
- Manage PLM (Teamcenter) configuration for design documentation
- Handle work intake, estimation, and execution
- Participate in (and occasionally lead) meetings and design reviews
- Maintain compliance training for business systems, safety, and security
Requirements include:
- Associate’s degree in a related field (and up to Bachelor’s degree with 6 years for more senior roles)
- Experience with ECAD software for schematics, PWBs, CCAs, and BOMs
- Knowledge of PWB construction, fabrication, and assembly
- Track record of delivering project milestones and team tracking
- For higher levels, team leadership or supervision experience
Added bonus for us includes:
- Altium ECAD and Siemens Teamcenter PLM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
- Expertise in power electronics, analog/digital circuits, RF, and EMI
- IPC CID/CID certification or knowledge of IPC standards
- Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required

Salary & Benefits
