Position Summary:
The Assistant Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to support the Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of assigned projects. The Assistant Superintendent participates in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and communications with the architect and consultants on field and constructability issues. Occasional travel is required. This position reports to the Project Superintendent.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Gain a complete knowledge and understanding of all contract drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, and any other job-related contracts and information for each project.
• Provide field support on the job site.
• Coordinate changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs.
• Perform job site setup and startup to include safety postings and procedures, security practices, field office location and layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, and manpower.
• Coordinate internal labor and resources, including third party vendors to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
• Communicate and interact with project stakeholders in a clear, concise, and professional manner and maintain positive and respectful relationships.
• Participate in the review of all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
• Maintain and update project records including RFI’s, ASI’s and as-builts.
• Assist with creating and enforcing a site-specific emergency action plan for assigned projects in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate subcontractors.
• Coordinate with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
• In collaboration with the Superintendent perform daily job site walks and submit daily safety audit reports.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Knowledgeable and efficient in the following software: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Procore.
• Knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends
• 4 Year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or 10 /- years of experience
• Dedicated, well organized, able to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
• Detailed oriented with the ability to focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines.
• Excellent leadership, personable, communication, and written skills that can effectively manage others.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
