Role Description
The High School Science Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate instructional plans that align with the school’s rigorous curriculum standards. Core responsibilities include creating lesson plans, teaching science courses with a focus on AP Chemistry and labs, assessing student progress, and contributing to curriculum development. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, AL. The candidate will also work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in school-wide activities, and engage in professional development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the physical sciences. Ideally has an education background with general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ideally has prior science teaching experience. Prepared to teach age-appropriate classes for high school.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in academic science standards for Alabama.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Has strong communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of students.
- Ability to conduct laboratory experiments while following all safety protocols. Ability to keep the laboratory inventory stored properly and organized.
- Experience using a variety of technology tools in the educational setting.
