The School of Translational Medicine (STM) is the FMNHS’s leading school for biomedical and clinical research and education, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. STM is primarily located at the Alfred Hospital Precinct, with sites at Peninsula Health, and Cabrini Hospital.
The Role
This Research Assistant position will contribute to the goals of the Sivathamboo Research Group, based within the Department of Neuroscience, STM. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of clinical trials including identifying possible patients, consenting patients, completing study procedures and coordinating staff involved in this study including neurologists and research coordinators.

Essential
Skills and Experience
- Undergraduate Degree in Science, Medicine, Biomedical Science or equivalent health discipline.
- Previous experience working in epilepsy research.
- Previous experience in understanding of the principles and methods of research.
- Previous experience in data entry, data collation and keeping systems.
- A Postgraduate Degree in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
- Conduct research relating to sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), autonomic function in epilepsy, and cardiorespiratory function in epilepsy.
- Liaising with site investigators, coordinators, other research support staff and consumer advisors to ensure smooth running of the study.
- Preparing ethics and governance submissions and amendments in a timely manner.
