Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.
WELLBEING AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICE, PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA SERVICE (PTS)
The Wellbeing and Therapeutic Services is designed to support consumers, carers, families, and staff through a recovery-oriented, therapeutic, and psychosocial framework. These services aim to enhance wellbeing by providing specialist consultation, building workforce capability, and strengthening self-agency for consumers and carers within AMAH. Through a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, the service promotes recovery, resilience, inclusion, and improved quality of life.
The stream includes several specialised programs that address the diverse needs of consumers and their support networks.
The Role
Using your lived experience of mental distress and recovery, provide mental health support and non-crisis interventions to consumers. You will be supported with line management and peer supervision in this role.

You will draw from your own lived experience of having a significant mental health challenge and the ability to use your experience to inspire hope and belief in recovery.

Essential
- Identified lived/living experience of mental health challenges
- Demonstrated understanding of consumer peer work and recovery-oriented practice
- Australian working rights and current influenza vaccination
- Current drivers licence
- Be willing to complete a police check
- Demonstrated experience working in a peer work role (typically 12 months or more)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within peer scope of practice
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
- Intentional Peer Support Training
