As a key member of our Electrical Engineering team, the Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with senior engineers in all phases of medical device development, from early concept through qualification, field testing, and clinical use. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and Prototyping: Research, develop, design, and prototype electronic circuit designs and electrical components for active medical implant technology.
- Design and Simulation: Conduct circuit design, simulation, and PCB layout, creating detailed assembly drawings, schematics, and related design documents, including risk analyses (dFMEA and Hazard Analysis).
- Verification and Validation: Perform circuit and system verification testing, develop and implement verification and validation testing plans and procedures, and analyze test data to ensure compliance with performance specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Software, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Quality, and Clinical engineers to debug and troubleshoot issues throughout the product lifecycle. Prepare and translate design documentation for cross-functional use outside of Electrical Engineering.
- Innovation and Improvement: Innovate design solutions and tools to enhance engineering performance and efficiency. Plan Design of Experiments, test fixtures, and test programs to compile and analyze operational and research data.
- This role requires applying engineering and scientific principles to evaluate and solve technical problems while ensuring the timely delivery of quality products through effective collaboration with various departments. The engineer should be self-directed and capable of leading multiple projects.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BS/MSEE in Electrical Engineering and/or a related field.
- Experience in electronic analog and digital hardware design and documentation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- RF and/or AC magnetic systems experience a plus.
- Medical device development under an FDA compliant quality system a plus, or other experience with design in a regulated industry.
