AHS is seeking to hire a full-time Academic Programs and Editorial Assistant to support its student chapters and national programming. Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs, he/she will have an opportunity to help shape the development and growth of the Academic team’s portfolio, mentor students, and cultivate relationships with senior academics and practitioners. This role involves heavy coordination between AHS’s student chapters and speaker network, managing program data, and providing editorial assistance for AHS publications. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Academic Programs to oversee AHS’s national network of student-led campus chapters, including hundreds of on-campus debates, discussions, and reading groups with U.S. foreign policy scholars and practitioners;
- Assist in executing AHS’s signature national-level programs, which currently includes an annual leadership conference, two fellowships, and robust summer programming;
- Assist with the publication of AHS’s annual student journal, The Hamiltonian, and other regular communications products;
- Track all programming-related quantitative and qualitative data;
- Personally oversee AHS’s student chapters in the Northeastern United States;
- Provide mentorship, academic guidance, and career advising to student leaders;
- Assist with other AHS projects as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated interest in U.S. foreign policy/national security;
- Strong understanding of and commitment to AHS’s mission and principles;
- Deep and extensive knowledge of U.S. foreign policy and national security issues;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain professional relations with faculty, students, and key network interlocutors;
- Phenomenal organizational skills, attention to logistical details, and the ability to manage a substantial number of projects and contacts at once.
