Qualifications/Requirements:

Serves as a Systems Engineer within the Air Base Air Defense (ABAD) portfolio, executing technical engineering tasks and collaborating across teams to ensure mission success. In this capacity, the individual actively mentors peer team members and participates in technical knowledge sharing to continuously elevate the collective team's technical capabilities. The Systems Engineer directly supports the ABAD Chief Engineer in the integration, production, and sustainment of the ABAD system of systems, employing full lifecycle engineering practices including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile Engineering, and the integration of continuous warfighter feedback to build and deliver relevant products that meet warfighter needs.

Mission: In alignment with the broader organizational mission, the individual contributes to the execution of Air Force acquisition policies and supports the technical development pathways of civilian and military acquisition resources within the portfolio. The Systems Engineer directly executes engineering tasks to develop and rapidly field operationally oriented capabilities for selected Headquarters Air Force (SecAF and CSAF) directed projects in response to Combat Air Force and Combatant Commander needs. Additionally, the individual conducts rigorous, independent operational and technological assessments of DoD weapon system capabilities and vulnerabilities to challenge adversary advantages and deliver highly effective solutions to the field.

DUTIES:

Facilitates collaboration and drives technical execution across a diverse team of government personnel, support contractors, and stakeholders. Focuses on solving highly complex problems, promoting teamwork, and implementing flexible, low-risk technical solutions to ensure the on-time delivery of the Air Base Air Defense (ABAD) Weapon System.

Supports the ABAD Chief Engineer by providing technical guidance on architecture governance and development activities. Directly contributes to the development, maintenance, and alignment of model content and system profiles.

Engages directly with Prime Contractors on engineering design, concept planning, development, and integration. Actively participates in the evaluation of architecture content and collaborates to resolve highly complex technical problems related to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Tracks and analyzes schedule, cost, performance, and acquisition requirements for programs within the CRC Program Office, proactively identifying risks and assisting in the resolution of acquisition and technical issues.

SKILLS:

Experience with systems engineering, specifically complex system architecture, that includes evaluating risks for a large and complex program, is required.

5-10 years of relevant engineering experience.

Strong technical skills in engineering sufficient to serve as a senior subject matter expert able to identify technical gaps and deficiencies in contractor deliverables that will require attention for the next iteration are highly valued.

Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop team members across the C3BM Directorate in pursuit of program objectives and milestones are strongly preferred.

System architecture design, Unified Modeling Language (UML), Systems Modeling Language (SysML) familiarity, Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), and Cameo modeling experience are highly desired.

Depth of experience in integrating systems engineering efforts from multiple teams within an enterprise is highly valued.

Breadth of engineering experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements Conditions of Employment:

This position is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Official transcripts may be required.

This is a non-supervisory position. This announcement may be used to fill multiple vacancies, and incentives may be offered.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

Employee must have graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program.

In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.

Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management "Practitioner" certification category within the required timeframe after appointment.

This may be a drug testing designated position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.

The employee may, within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually, thereafter, by required to file an OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.

Full time telework or remote telework is not authorized for this position. Situational telework will be authorized on case-by-case basis according to organizational internal policies.
