What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Softball Coach position at The Agnes Irwin School?
The Agnes Irwin School, a PreK through 12 all-girls’ school in Rosemont, PA, is looking for an
experienced Varsity Softball Coach. In Spring 2025, the Varsity Softball Coach will primarily be
focused on outreach and recruitment of prospective softball student-athletes and developing a
part-time training program for our current softball student-athletes. It is also expected the Coach
will work closely with the Middle School Coaches to ensure program continuity. AIS anticipates
not fielding a softball team for the 2025 Spring season, but expects to field a Varsity Team for
the 2026 Spring season. The Varsity Coach will be responsible for continuing development of
the student-athletes and oversight of the team and Assistant Softball Coach during the
competition season in 2026.
Responsibilities:
Spring 2025:
● Coordinate a part-time training program for current student-athletes with an emphasis
on athletic growth and development as well as safety
● Lead the school-supported revitalization of the Softball program at AIS through
recruitment of softball student-athletes of high academic and athletic potential to Agnes
Irwin
● Work closely with Middle School Coaches to ensure program continuity
● Comply with all Agnes Irwin procedures and policies
Projected Spring 2026:
● Coordinate practice sessions and training programs with an emphasis on athletic growth
and development as well as safety
● Attend all practices and games; coach team to build competitive success
● Recruit student-athletes of high academic and athletic potential to Agnes Irwin
● Promote a positive attitude, academic achievement, and personal growth
● Comply with all Agnes Irwin procedures and policies
● Assist student-athletes in the college recruiting process
● Supervise Assistant Coach
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
● Experience coaching softball and teaching softball skills and strategies that apply to the
skill level of the student-athletes
● Experience developing softball athletes, leading/coordinating a team of coaches, and
developing and advancing a long-term program vision and plan
● Evidenced ability to maintain and consistently exemplify the highest standards of
professionalism, leadership, sportsmanship and respect
● Proven organizational and motivational skills
● Demonstrated abilities in communication and community relations
● Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students, staff, administration, and parents
● Knowledge of appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of student-athletes
● Experience working with an Athletic Trainer, ensuring student-athletes receive proper
medical and physical training services
● CPR/First Aid certification
