In this role, you will be responsible for the Financial Reporting, General Accounting, Civil Services Group (CSG) billing departments. What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the strategic direction of three departments, General Accounting, Financial Reporting, and CSG Billing. Oversee the financial close processes, financial reporting activities, tax compliance, and billing operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Coordinate and oversee the preparation of the annual corporate and benefit plan financial statements; and related support binder. Manage financial statements draft review/edit process with external auditors.
- Track all new accounting pronouncements, research and assess the applicability and/or financial impact, and make recommendations to the Controller about the necessary changes to implement.
- Lead accounting projects pertaining to new accounting codifications including coordinating changes to corporate and benefit plans financial statement disclosures; and/or accounting policy changes. Partner with Controller to communicate changes to external auditors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally for benefit plan changes affecting the corporate and benefit plans financial statement disclosures.
- Lead strategic direction for staffing / hiring in area of responsibility
- Monitor corporate cash flow / funding.
- Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with CAS, FAR, and contractual requirements.
- Respond to external audit requests.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
- At least five years of experience managing accounting teams.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and organizational levels.
- Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) complemented by a strong understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g SAP; Oracle).
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- MBA or advanced degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA.
- Knowledge of employee benefit plans accounting, and principles of actuarial concepts.
