Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe changes in condition, and report findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or client vehicles.
- Follow established care plans meticulously while documenting patient observations and updates for ongoing care adjustments.
- Use appropriate patient monitoring techniques during hospice care or home health visits to ensure comfort and safety.
- Support clients with complex needs such as memory care or intellectual disabilities by implementing specialized strategies aligned with their individual requirements.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient personal care assistance with compassion and professionalism.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling equipment.
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics and individuals requiring long-term or hospice care.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications in medication administration or dementia care are advantageous.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely when assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation of care activities.
