Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being in various settings including homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of patient care and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide personal care including hygiene assistance and mobility support.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client health status.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Administer medication as prescribed and assist with care plans.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Assist clients with mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining client confidentiality.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification are preferred.
- Experience in group homes or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory care practices.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus.
- Familiarity with home health care practices and hospice care principles.
- Competence in patient monitoring techniques and vital sign assessment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
