Position Summary
The Residential Supervisor Trainee (RST) is a developmental leadership position within Residential Services designed to prepare high-performing Direct Support Professionals for advancement into the Residential Supervisor role. While continuing to provide direct, person-centered support, the RST develops competency in residential operations, documentation oversight, staff accountability, compliance monitoring, medication documentation awareness, incident response, and quality assurance.

Under the guidance of the Residential Coordinator and Residential Manager, the Residential Supervisor Trainee assists with day-to-day home operations, reinforces agency expectations, supports DSP performance, participates in coaching and accountability processes, and develops the leadership skills required to successfully transition into a Residential Supervisor position.
 


Developmental Leadership Note: This role is intended to bridge the transition from Direct Support Professional to Residential Supervisor. Successful completion of the Residential Supervisor Academy and demonstration of required competencies may result in advancement to the Residential Supervisor position.

 
Core Areas of Development
 


Residential Operations Support

  • Assist with maintaining daily operations of the assigned residential home.

  • Monitor house cleanliness, organization, and environmental standards.

  • Support shift continuity, staffing communication, and completion of assigned house responsibilities.

  • Participate in house walkthroughs, maintenance reporting, activity planning, and operational follow-up.




Staff Leadership Development

  • Serve as a leadership resource to DSP staff while developing supervisory judgment.

  • Model professional communication, documentation standards, respectful interactions, and safe work practices.

  • Assist with reinforcing staff expectations and identifying performance concerns.

  • Participate in coaching conversations and staff accountability processes with leadership support.




Documentation & Compliance Support

  • Support completion and review of required documentation, including shift notes, activity schedules, house walks, maintenance requests, and fire drill documentation.

  • Assist with identifying incomplete, inaccurate, or untimely documentation.

  • Support MAR submission processes and medication documentation awareness as required.

  • Maintain documentation that is factual, objective, timely, complete, and audit-ready.




Health, Safety & Regulatory Readiness

  • Support safe and compliant residential operations in alignment with Pennsylvania 6400 and 6100 expectations.

  • Assist with fire drills, environmental checks, safety concerns, and emergency preparedness activities.

  • Monitor and communicate concerns related to health, safety, medication documentation, or individual support needs.

  • Promote individual rights, dignity, privacy, choice, and person-centered support.




Direct Support & Individual Care

  • Provide direct support services, including assistance with activities of daily living, community participation, routines, and skill-building.

  • Support implementation of ISP goals, routines, risk mitigation strategies, and individualized supports.

  • Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, emotional well-being, or daily functioning.

  • Remain hands-on while developing leadership competency within the residence.




 
Residential Supervisor Academy Requirements
 
Residential Supervisor Trainees are expected to actively participate in and successfully complete the Residential Supervisor Academy. Training includes supervisor role expectations, daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities, documentation systems, medication documentation awareness, residential operations, staff leadership and accountability, regulatory compliance, incident management, and final competency assessment.
 
Promotion Standards

  • Successful completion of the Residential Supervisor Academy.

  • Demonstrated competency in documentation, operations, compliance, staff accountability, and communication.

  • Consistent attendance, professionalism, and sound judgment.

  • Ability to model agency standards and reinforce expectations with staff.

  • Recommendation from residential leadership for advancement.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 1-2 years of direct support experience in IDD, behavioral health, residential services, or a related human services setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and ability to support individuals respectfully and safely.

  • Strong communication, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration as applicable.

  • Valid driver's license preferred or required based on assigned location needs.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional emergency coverage as needed.


Compensation & Benefits
 
Paid Time Off: 64 hours annually, including 40 vacation hours and 24 sick hours.
Holiday Pay: The Adolphus Group observes 8 paid holidays, including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Pay Frequency
 
Employees are paid weekly. Payroll runs on “A Week” Fridays and covers two weeks of work. A full pay calendar will be provided during onboarding.
 




 Before You Start Employment with The Adolphus Group is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States, completion of all onboarding paperwork in iSolved, completion of required background checks and clearances as applicable, and agreement to company policies and standards of conduct.
