DESCRIPTION
JOIN THE CREATIVE LEADERSHIP OF THE ACTORS STUDIO OF NEW JERSEY
Creative Trustees & Creative Marketing Chair
The Actors Studio of New Jersey (ASNJ) is growing—and we are looking for creative leaders who want to help shape the future of professional theatre in New Jersey.
Founded and led by Michael Restaino, Producing Artistic Director, ASNJ is committed to artistic excellence, creative innovation, professional opportunity, education, and community engagement.
Our vision is to build ASNJ into a vibrant center of artistic innovation and unity—a place where established professionals and emerging artists can create exceptional work, audiences can experience theatre in new ways, and education and outreach are central to our mission.
CREATIVE TRUSTEES
Creative Trustees serve on the Board of Trustees in a professional leadership capacity. Trustees help protect the integrity of ASNJ, ensuring that the organization continues to remain true to its mission, vision, artistic standards, and commitment to the community.
Trustees help:
- Provide strategic and creative leadership.
- Protect the organization's mission and artistic vision.
- Support organizational growth and sustainability.
- Serve as ambassadors for ASNJ within the community and professional arts world.
- Champion artistic excellence and meaningful opportunities for artists and audiences.
While Board service is uncompensated, ASNJ is a professional producing organization, and paid opportunities may be available within individual productions and programs based on professional qualifications and production needs. Main Stage production assignments may include stipends.
We are especially seeking Trustees with experience or interest in:
Education & Outreach Programming
Help shape educational programs, conservatory offerings, Theatre for Young Audiences, community partnerships, and outreach initiatives.
Creative Development
Help develop new programming, artistic initiatives, new works, special events, partnerships, and opportunities for emerging artists.
Creative Management
Help strengthen creative processes, production planning, artist relations, creative teams, and the systems that allow our productions to thrive.
Creative Coordination
Help connect ASNJ's artistic, production, education, marketing, and development efforts while identifying opportunities for collaboration and growth.
CREATIVE MARKETING CHAIR
ASNJ is also seeking a Creative Marketing Chair to serve on the Board of Directors.
This role is for someone who sees marketing as more than advertising. We are looking for a creative strategist who can help answer:
How do we make people excited about ASNJ?
The Creative Marketing Chair will work closely with organizational leadership and Development to create opportunities for audience growth, brand development, community engagement, partnerships, and increased visibility.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing creative marketing strategies for ASNJ programming throughout the year.
- Leading or guiding marketing campaigns for Main Stage productions, education, outreach, and special events.
- Identifying new audiences and innovative ways to reach them.
- Creating partnerships with businesses, schools, community organizations, media, and arts organizations.
- Supporting ASNJ's brand identity and public presence.
- Collaborating with Development on creative opportunities for organizational growth.
- Bringing new ideas, campaigns, and audience engagement strategies to the organization.
A stipend is provided for qualifying Main Stage production marketing assignments.
WHY JOIN ASNJ?
Board service is an opportunity to do more than attend meetings.
You will help build something exceptional and inspiring.
You will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise, expand your professional network, collaborate with artists and creative leaders, support meaningful programming, and help shape the future of a growing professional theatre company.
Board meetings take place 1–2 times per month, with theatre productions, educational programs, outreach initiatives, and special events taking place throughout the year.
We are looking for people who are passionate, collaborative, forward-thinking, professionally experienced, and excited about the future of theatre in New Jersey.
