Job Overview
The Academy FL is an accredited, non-traditional school specializing in discovering and cultivating the GREATNESS in children with Dyslexia, ADHD and Non-Traditional Learners. Our school is an affiliate of The Academy Way Network of Schools. We are a growing and unique private school! We are currently seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to teach who has experience teaching children with Dyslexia, ADHD, and can also teach Math (not high level math). Preference will be given to those with Wilson Reading and/or Orton-Gillingham certification as well as experience working with neurodiverse learners. You must be flexible, passionate about teaching and have a deep understanding of students who learn differently. We need a go getter, who can work with little supervision and a ton of support from our school leader and other staff members. You should be an out of the box thinker and not bring a traditional approach to teaching and learning.
We currently serve students in 2nd - 9th grades and our school is currently located in Port St. Lucie Christian Church but will be relocating in the same area for the 26-27 school year.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters the academic and social-emotional development of students. This role requires a strong commitment to student success, effective lesson planning, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
We are hiring 1 teacher with an immediate start date.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
- Utilize applied behavior analysis techniques to support students with varying needs.
- Provide literacy and/or math education lessons/instruction tailored to the individual learning styles of students.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Foster a positive school environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding student performance and development.
Qualifications
- You must be a kid-loving person first and foremost. This is REQUIRED!!!!!!!
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is REQUIRED.
- Experience working with individuals with learning challenges is REQUIRED.
- Strong skills in lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and classroom management.
- Ability to calculate data related to student assessments and progress tracking.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
