For School Age, we are looking for both a Lead Teacher as well as a Teaching Assistant for our Summer Camp program and school year program; some of the requirements listed below pertain to the Lead position only. *Starting pay is dependent upon which position being applied for, as well as education & experience.

The purpose of The Academy for Little Children is to provide high quality responsive care and a learning environment for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 10 years old. We offer an educational program based upon developmentally appropriate practices in order to help the children develop a strong foundation and gain a positive attitude toward learning. We focus on the children’s cognitive, socioemotional and physical growth in order to promote an integrated and effective approach to learning. We maintain a warm, loving environment to instill in the children that this is a place where they can trust, be happy and feel secure.
What You Will Do:
As a teacher at The Academy for Little Children, you will join a family of educators dedicated to helping each child succeed. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the day to day operation in the assigned area
- Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (via weekly curriculum) that are developmentally appropriate, meeting the needs of all of the children in the group
- Daily communication with families
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized classroom
- Maintaining compliance with DCYF, DHS, and BrightStars standards
- Following center policies
- Working with coworkers as an active team member

With that in mind, we do have the following requirements and preferences for applicants:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age (Required for Lead Teacher position only)
- Associates degree or higher in a field related to education, child development, human services, or recreation (Required for Lead Teacher position only)
- Minimum of 1 years working with 5-10 year olds (Required for Lead Teacher position only)
- Must complete 20 hours of professional development per year
- Must possess excellent work attendance
