Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support with campus-wide activities such as lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure student safety
- Support lead and special education teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with disabilities to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and provide social-emotional support to students as needed.
- Substitute for lead teachers when necessary to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
- Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with documentation and data collection related to student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, respect, and independence.
- Model professionalism, patience, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.
Qualifications & Competencies
- High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR Associate’s degree (or higher).
- Previous Special Education Paraprofessional experience (required).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Passion for working with students in diverse, underserved communities and with special learning needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children.
