Location: AMS Little Rock
Salary Range: $53,314 – $56,016 (based on verified full-time teaching experience)

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 7th and 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens students’ reading comprehension, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills.
This role focuses on preparing middle school students for the academic demands of high school by building strong literacy foundations through close reading, evidence-based writing, vocabulary development, and literary analysis.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks.
- Teach and develop students’ skills in:
- Reading comprehension
- Literary analysis
- Academic writing
- Grammar and language conventions
- Vocabulary development
- Guide students in analyzing fiction, nonfiction, and informational texts.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students performing above and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and targeted interventions.
- Establish and maintain a structured classroom environment grounded in high expectations.
- Implement PBIS strategies and proactive classroom management practices.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Foster student engagement, critical thinking, and discussion-based learning.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instruction.
- Engage in data analysis cycles to improve student learning outcomes.
- Implement instructional feedback and coaching to refine teaching practice.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic performance.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school engagement events.
- Foster strong home-school partnerships that support student success.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Language Arts, or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in a relevant subject area
- Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
- Show commitment to serving Title I and diverse student populations.
- Demonstrate a data-driven instructional mindset.
- Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and initiative.
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
- Experience teaching middle school English Language Arts
- Arkansas state teaching certification
- Experience supporting analytical writing and literary analysis
- Experience teaching in Title I or diverse school communities
