About The Role
Due to the continued growth and expansion of the AMS Avondale campus, we are adding a second administrator to our leadership team. The Assistant Principal (Elementary K–4) will play a critical role in supporting instructional quality, school operations, and student culture for grades kindergarten through 4th.
This leader will work collaboratively with the campus principal, instructional coaches, and AMS network leadership to ensure a safe, supportive, structured, and academically rigorous learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs and formal evaluations using AMS standardized tools.
- Provide coaching and actionable feedback to teachers to strengthen instructional practices.
- Support professional development, PLCs, and instructional planning aligned to AMS curriculum and state standards.
- Analyze academic data to monitor scholar progress and support intervention and growth strategies.
- Help maintain strong school-wide systems, routines, and expectations.
- Support discipline systems in alignment with AMS policies and restorative practices.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Assist with operational needs including supervision, scheduling, safety drills, and event coordination.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and supporting instructional staff throughout the year.
- Model professionalism, communication, accountability, and a student-first mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 3 years of successful K–8 classroom teaching experience with evidence of strong student outcomes.
- Prior school leadership, instructional coaching, or teacher leadership experience (ex: grade-level lead, mentor teacher, dean, instructional coach, assistant principal internship).
- Strong ability to coach adults, support classroom management systems, and improve instructional practice.
- Proficiency analyzing academic data and using results to drive decision-making.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and follow-through.
- Demonstrated commitment to underserved communities and equitable access to high-quality instruction.
- Master’s degree in Education, Leadership
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience in a Title I or charter school environment
