Location: AMS Little Rock
Salary Range: $53,314 – $56,016 (based on verified full-time teaching experience)

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 5th Grade ELA & Social Studies Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens students’ literacy skills while building knowledge of history, geography, and civic understanding.
This role focuses on helping upper elementary students develop strong reading comprehension, writing skills, and analytical thinking, while fostering curiosity about the world through meaningful social studies instruction.

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 5th Grade ELA & Social Studies Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens students’ literacy skills while building knowledge of history, geography, and civic understanding.
This role focuses on helping upper elementary students develop strong reading comprehension, writing skills, and analytical thinking, while fostering curiosity about the world through meaningful social studies instruction.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned ELA and Social Studies instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks.
- Develop students’ reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
- Teach social studies content including history, geography, and civics through engaging and literacy-integrated lessons.
- Differentiate instruction to support students performing above, at, and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and targeted interventions.
- Support students in developing strong academic habits that prepare them for middle school success.
- Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment grounded in high expectations.
- Implement PBIS practices and proactive classroom management strategies.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Build strong relationships that foster student engagement and confidence.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
- Engage in data analysis cycles to improve student learning outcomes.
- Implement feedback and coaching to continuously refine instructional practice.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic growth.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school family engagement events.
- Build strong partnerships between home and school to support student success.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Language Arts, Social Studies, or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in a relevant subject area
- Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
- Show commitment to serving Title I and diverse student populations.
- Demonstrate a data-driven instructional mindset.
- Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and initiative.
- Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Experience teaching upper elementary grades (4th–6th).
- Arkansas state teaching certification.
- Experience integrating literacy instruction within social studies content.
