Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative Elementary Teacher to join our team and teach ELA and History in our combined 5th/6th grade Montessori inspired class of 18-24 students, co-taught with a STEM teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong humanities background, demonstrating a commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment. This position is co-taught with a STEM Elementary Guide, and also includes teaching 2 electives courses dependent on applicants skills and background.
Most Fridays off!
Salary competitive with district salaries and commensurate with experience.
Very small microschool setting but growing fast!
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lessons across ELA and History courses that aligns with the pedagogy of The Academic Orchard to a co-taught combined 5th and 6th grade classroom
- Teach two electives at all times based on applicants interests/background
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages collaboration and critical thinking.
- Develop interdisciplinary projects that also integrate STEM and the arts, promoting hands-on and experiential learning.
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technology to enhance student learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and individualized support.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum goals and share best practices.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to foster a strong school-home partnership.
Qualifications
Required:
- Certification: Valid Texas teaching certification for EC-6th grade.
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Education or a field related to ELA and/or History
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching in an elementary classroom setting.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to fostering a lifelong love of learning in students.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
