JOB SUMMARY: As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at an all service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Geneva Lake. BASIC FUNCTION: The Gift Shop Associate is responsible for tending to and assisting guests as they inquire about merchandise.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have command of the English language, written and verbal.
- Must be able to organize time effectively and be flexible and work extended hours if necessary.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic computer usage skills.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time (90 percent of shift).
- Able to lift 35 pounds
- Good hearing and vision with or without corrective lenses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Obtain and verify bank and open register.
- Request change order if needed.
- Assist customers in selection of merchandise.
- Respond to guests’ needs and relay comments to supervisor.
- Collect and process cash/charges using computerized Micros System.
- Check in, inspect, and tag new merchandise.
- Restock merchandise.
- Close out Micros System; count bank, balance and return.
- Display merchandise in shop and windows.
- Gift-wrap packages as needed.
- Take monthly inventory.
- List merchandise to be ordered.
- Vacuum, dust and straighten shop.
- Move racks as needed.
- Hang, ticket and steam clothes.
- Maintain store supplies, i.e., register paper, bags, etc. and put request into manager.
- Answer telephones and take messages.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.
- Perform other duties as requested by Gift Shop Manager.
- Punch in and report to the Gift Shop Manager and/or Assistant Gift Shop Manager on time and in full uniform for each shift. Obtain manager’s approval prior to punching out.
