Role Description The Assistant Varsity Boys Soccer Coach is a part-time, on-site role located at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA. The coach will support the Head Coach in planning and running practices, developing game strategies, and preparing student-athletes for competition. Daily responsibilities include coaching technical and tactical skills, supervising student-athletes during practices and games, and reinforcing sportsmanship, teamwork, and safety. The coach will assist with evaluating player performance, providing constructive feedback, and helping manage equipment and field setup. In addition, the coach will collaborate with school staff to uphold academic and behavioral standards and represent Thayer Academy positively in all athletic activities.
Qualifications
- Coaching and soccer expertise, including knowledge of game tactics, player development, and practice planning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and guide student-athletes and collaborate with colleagues.
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and safe team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship and respect.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or athletic setting, with a commitment to supporting their growth.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills for coordinating practices, games, and team logistics.
- Previous high school, club, or collegiate coaching or playing experience is preferred.
- Availability for after-school practices, games, and occasional weekend commitments during the season.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain, and adherence to school and league policies and guidelines.
