Thatcher Foundations Inc., a specialty geotechnical and marine contractor in the greater Chicago area, has an immediate opening for a entry level Civil Engineer with a focus in geotechnical or structural engineering. Thatcher has provided engineered geo-structural solutions in the Midwest since 1946. Our services include deep foundations, earth retention systems, and marine construction.

Job Summary
- Job Title: Project Manager – Specialty Foundation Construction
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Location: Field-based / Project-assigned
- Scope: Managing heavy civil and structural foundation projects ranging from $100K to $10M
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Lead driven piles, caissons, micropiles, earth retention, and structural concrete scopes from bid to closeout.
- Financial Management: Track project costs, approve pay applications, manage change orders, and forecast labor/material budgets.
- Site Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA safety protocols, inspect excavation/pours, and ensure local building code compliance.
- Resource Logistics: Coordinate heavy equipment logistics, crew allocations, and material deliveries with General Superintendents.
- Stakeholder Communication: Run coordination meetings with structural engineers, general contractors, and geotechnical consultants. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive construction management experience, with a heavy focus on geotechnical or deep foundation systems.
- Travel: Ability to travel or work on long-term project site assignments as required.
