Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer truck with manual transmission across designated local routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, adhering to safety protocols.
- Manage various types of freight including aggregrates , flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including brake systems, lights, tires, and load securement.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and compliance with all federal and state transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries while providing excellent customer service.
- Follow all safety procedures related to driving, load securement, and handling different types of freight to prevent accidents or damage.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty trucks.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Experience with end dump trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
- Ability to load & unload freight using forklifts or other equipment; prior forklift certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of route driving best practices and safety regulations governing trucking operations.
