The Production Operator at Thatcher Company plays a vital role in the production and shipment of aluminum sulfate. The operator will be involved in various production processes and adhere to strict safety and procedural guidelines while working within the Aluminum Sulfate (Alum) Department.
Responsibilities
Handle unloading rail cars and charging production batches.
Monitor and filter completed production batches.
Load bulk trailers for distribution.
Complete all necessary production documentation.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and safety.
Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and customer focus.
Operate forklifts and other equipment safely as needed.
Perform routine safety checks and comply with environmental regulations.
Ensure the maintenance and smooth functioning of alum production wet scrubber.
Understand and adhere to air permit regulations related to fugitive emissions.
Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations when handling corrosive chemicals.
Shift: Sat - Mon 5:00 pm to 5:00 am and Tues 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Pay Range: $22-24/hour
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Ability to stand for 8 hours a day and lift up to 50 lbs
Willingness to climb ladders and work at heights
Ability to don and doff personal protective equipment (PPE) multiple times per day
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Willingness to learn and follow proper chemical handling procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in chemical manufacturing or handling
Familiarity with DOT regulations and PSM requirements
Knowledge of pumps and their operation
Experience with forklift operation
Basic computer skills
This position involves working with PSM chemicals, specifically CL2 (Chlorine). Candidates must be willing to handle hazardous materials and adhere to all safety protocols.
