As a Retail Store Associate for Upstate Coin and Gold (UCG), you are the public face of the company, responsible for buying and selling precious metals to walk-in and call-in customers, primarily from the Fayetteville storefront. Your success hinges on maintaining the highest standards of Product Knowledge and Expertise, Professionalism, and delivering swift, accurate, and discrete transactions to set UCG apart in a heavily competitive environment.
Hours: 9:00am- 6:00pm (Monday- Friday), one Saturday a month. Location: Fayetteville, NY
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement: Greet customers maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Quote Delivery: Deliver offers confidently and professionally, avoiding slang
- Train and develop product knowledge:Handle scrap precious metal jewelry, sterling silver holloware and flatware, precious metal coins and bullion, and numismatic value coins and notes.
- Authentication: Authenticate scrap gold and other precious metal scrap using Hallmarks, XRF (X-ray fluorescence), and Sigma (electromagnetic waves) technology.
- Pricing Tools: Learn how to price and provide quotes for metals
- Update CRM- Operations: Use the UCG Retail Precious Metals Trader role for processing transactions.
- Legal Compliance
- Inventory & Cash Management:-Daily end-of-day reconciliation of the cash drawer must be performed by comparing the physical cash count to the NetSuite Cash Drawer Daily Report.
- Marketing and Customer Services Responsibilities to create customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Task Management: Fill downtime by assisting the shipping and processing departments with overflow work as directed by the Operations Manager's daily email.
- Stone Removal: Offer to remove "easy" stones for customers who want them back
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years retail experience
- Experience with CRM, POC and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Knowledge of precious metals is a plus, but not required.
