Design Engineer III, Structural/Mechanical GSE

Role Overview: This position involves designing, analyzing, building, and commissioning structural hardware and mechanical tooling for space vehicles and support infrastructure within a high-performance, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own full design cycles from concept to operational handover for structures, test stands, and tooling.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings complying with industry standards.
• Perform structural and mechanical analysis using FEA software and hand calculations.
• Contribute to safety assessments and develop testing, activation, and commissioning plans.
• Manage fabrication support, resolve technical issues, and oversee installation activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and vendors throughout project lifecycle.
• Provide schedule, scope, and budget input, ensuring project delivery.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• B.S. in mechanical, civil, aerospace engineering or related field; 3-7 years’ experience in structural/mechanical design.
• Proficiency with CAD (Creo/NX), FEA (ANSYS), and GD&T standards.
• Experience with steel and aluminum welded structures, industry codes (ASME, OSHA, AISC).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, structural analysis, and safety standards.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful resident.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications: M.S. degree, hands-on mechanical experience, experience in aerospace or industrial applications, and familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic systems and PDM/PLM systems.
