,Job Description for Director

This schedule is subject to change at any time by the Director/Administrator only. A schedule cannot cover all situations or incidents, and other duties or responsibilities may be added to an employee’s job description. We ask all employees at Thankful Learning Center, Inc. to comply with their schedules and be willing to changes. In addition to what is stated below, all staff must comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook, which each staff member has signed an agreement for upon hire and updates.

REQUIREMENTS: PA Criminal Background Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (Fingerprints), Health Assessment with Tuberculosis Screening, 2 Reference Letters, 2 Forms of Identification, & one of the following (as stated in the PA CODE Chapter 3270 – Child Day Care Centers):

A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:

(1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field with 2-years of experience with children.

(2) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field, and 2 years of experience with children.

(3) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.

(4) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field, and 4 years of experience with children.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. Administering finances, personnel, maintenance, meal planning and preparation and transportation.

2. Administering the facility’s program objectives and activities.

3. Designating a staff person who is responsible for compliance with this chapter in the Director’s absence.

4. Coordinating and planning daily activities with the group supervisors or with the assistant group supervisors in the school-age program.

5. Must sign-in and be at your assigned location no more than (15) fifteen minutes or less than (10) ten minutes prior to the beginning of the shift.

6. Ensure each classroom is properly supervised and in compliance with staff to child ratio.

7. Review and check teachers’ records with attendance records and meal count forms on a weekly basis.

8. Review and check all emergency and incident reports and report them to the parent/guardian.

9. Must handle all parental and staff disputes in the office.

10. Review the documented incidences of learning or behavioral disabilities for the children provided by the teachers.

11. (No cell phone) Emergency phone calls must be made in the office.

12. Your personal work must not be done in the center.

13. Review semi-annual evaluations for each child before conferences.

14. Attend staff meeting (usually one per month), parent group meetings, in-service meetings, and functions directly related to basic school programs.

15. Provide input for planning and decide on the teacher’s curriculum that is used at the center.

16. Be available for parent conferences and phone calls.

17. Must provide a two-week notice for requesting days off and must not abuse absentees or tardiness.

18. Make sure all programs (CACFP, CCIS, SHARE & Dept. of Educ.) are following proper procedures and being operated correctly and at its fullest potential.

19. Must be willing to learn new programs and stay informed or up-to-date with programs being used by the center.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
